Queensland Budget Submission

The Suburban Alliance budget submission to the Queensland Governments points out that, over 8 years, spending has overwhelmingly favoured well to do inner city areas, while more economically challenged outer suburban areas are being asked to bear most of the population growth burden while receving the least government budget support.

The submission provides extensive detail and references the good fortunes of Queensland’s most expensive housing market – inner city New Farm – which 25 years ago was equal to suburbs such as Eight Mile Plains but which has benefited from a constant and unequal flow of taxpayer funds.

The Suburban Alliance calls on future budget priorities to address this imbalance and restore fairness for suburban centres.
